EASY Mandala Color Scheme Practice Worksheet: Sub, Early Finisher

 EASY ACTIVITY-5 COLOR SCHEMES!

Use this black and white Color Scheme Practice Worksheet as a follow up activity on your color theory lesson. I usually have students complete it AFTER they've completed a practice color wheel.

HOW TO USE:
This worksheet is great for early finishers (I have them hold onto it all semester and work on it whenever they have free time). OR, this could be a great sub activity.

AGE RANGE: Upper Elementary and Middle School

This activity would be appropriate for students in grades 4-8. Thinking of using it with older or younger students? Cool! You may need to offer additional support/resources to ensure student success.

GETTING STARTED:

I usually start it with the students as a demo, and work on it here and there myself to model exectations for the activity.

This pdf also incudes a slide with a partially-colored example and tips for use. This can be used by the teacher or displayed (or printed) for student use.

Find it in my Teachers Pay Teachers store:

REPOST: Blank Artist Statement Form

Hey everyone! Last post for today (I think!)-

I was recently asked for the pdf for my Blank Artist Statement Form. I posted about this before, but realized that I never put it on my Teachers Pay Teacher site.

I've been using this Artist Statement Form in my art classes since 2016!

I designed this Blank Artist Statement Form to help my upper elementary and middle school students write a better artist statement and reflect on their learning. I include it in every sketchbook I make for my students grades 5-8.

Younger students can write directly on the form and older students can use it to compose a final draft on the computer.

Description:

This one page handout/resource can be used for all types of artwork (2D and 3D). It's also a note-taking sheet so you can customize it for your specific lesson.

What you get:

THIS PURCHASE IS FOR A DIGITAL FILE ONLY. You will get a digital file for a one page black and white pdf of my Blank Artist Statement Form. Note: This file does not have any dates written on it, so you can use it for any year and any class!

How to use this file:
  1. Download the file from TpT
  2. Print on regular paper (not included with purchase) or share via Google Classroom, etc.
  3. Customize by having students take notes on it or use the backside to plan/sketch

You can use this printout on its own or glue it into a sketchbook

NEW HANDOUT: Suminagashi Printmaking Handout/Reseource

Here's a one-page quick handout/resource to use with students when teaching Suminagashi printmaking. Suminagashi monoprinting can be linked to science and World History and Graphic Arts (STEAM). Find it on my Teacher Pay Teachers store.

I teach printmaking to middle school students and I use this as part of a one-day Suminagashi "Lab" I do with them. On printing day, students enter the room and I have all of the tables set up for them to work. I give them this handout, do a demonstration, and the rest of the class time is spent creating and experimenting with the medium.

This handout is also used the next class to debrief.

Description:

This one page handout/resource can be used on its own or part of a larger printmaking unit. It's also a note-taking sheet so you can customize it for your specific lesson.

NEW HANDOUT: Chinese Seal/Chop and Japanese Hanko/Inkan Printmaking Handout

Another snow day here in New Hampshire, so I'm using my time to post a couple of new resources. First up: this Chinese Seal/Chop and Japanese Hanko/Inkan Printmaking Handout. Find this in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store.

Here's a one-page quick handout/resource to use with students when teaching about Chinese Seals/Chops and/or Japanese Hanko/Inkan. Creating your own seal can be linked to Asian Studies and Graphic Arts.

I teach printmaking to middle school students and I use this as part of a larger printmaking unit I do with them. We do gyotaku printing (fish printing) and then create stamps to seal or sign our work. This handout is used for the creation of the stamp portion of the unit.

This handout is also used to debrief after an activity.

Description:

This one page handout/resource can be used on its own or part of a larger printmaking unit. It's also a note-taking sheet so you can customize it for your specific lesson. I have students sketch their ideas for their stamps on the reverse of the handout.

My TpT Store: 3-2-1 Oil Pastels--A How To Video & Graphic Organizer

Hey friends and enemies!

I've been creating some resources that students can use to learn the basics of art supplies. So many times I do the same demos over and over and it would be nice to be able to quickly refer students to a demo in case they missed it or need additional info.

In a previous post, I explained how my friend Jen pointed me down the road to using the 3-2-1 format for my videos. Once I started thinking of organizing my demos this way, I haven't been able to stop!

Oil pastels are near and dear to my heart. I use them in my own scratch art-inspired work and love how easy they are to use and the bright colors!

3-2-1 Oil Pastels Video and Graphic Organizer

With this resource students will learn:
  • What are oil pastels?
  • Three ways to use this art material
  • Two cool techniques
  • One thing to keep in mind

My TpT Store: 3-2-1 Watercolor Pencils--A How To Video & Graphic Organizer

Hey friends and enemies!

This year, I'm teaching an elective class for Grade 8 called, "Choice Based Studio." Students will be able to choose their own projects to work on. This is an expansion of the final Choice project I usually do with grade 8 classes and I'm SUPER EXCITED to be offering students the opportunity to choose their own ART-ventures for an entire semester!

I've been creating some resources that students can use to learn the basics of art supplies. So many times I do the same demos over and over and it would be nice to be able to quickly refer students to a demo in case they missed it or need additional info.

Creating demo videos has been in my mind for several years and now seemed the perfect time to move on it. I was worried I've make the videos too long and that the students would get overwhelmed by the info.

Then along came my friend Jen. She teaches fifth grade at my school and we were sitting on the beach this summer chit-chatting about school and our prep we wanted to get done this summer. I was telling her about my video project and she suggested a 3-2-1 format. She uses this all the time with her students.

I thought about it when I went home and decided to structure my videos in that way. I even created a handout where students could practice the skills in the video and reflect on their learning.
